Popcorn has become an iconic treat at the cinema and a symbol of enjoying a movie.
Movie and snack fans will be thrilled to have the opportunity to learn how to make popcorn so you can celebrate this movie icon!
This guide, which you’re about to read, will show you how to recreate this favorite food. We hope you enjoy this step-by-step tutorial on How to Draw Popcorn in Solos in 6 Steps!
How To Draw Popcorn
Step 1
The popcorn you will draw in this popcorn drawing guide is in a nicely decorated bag, and that’s what we’re going to start with now.
To do this, you should use a ruler to make it much more manageable.
Then, once your ruler is ready, you can draw two vertical lines moving slightly outward. Then you can connect these two lines below to form the bottom of the popcorn bag.
That’s all for this step, and you’re good to go!
Step 2
In this second step of your popcorn design, you’ll add the top of the bag you started in step 1.
You don’t need a ruler for this step because the top of the bag isn’t flat. Instead, you can use a series of rounded lines to create a wavy edge for the top of the bag.
The reference picture is beneficial in seeing what it should look like!
Step 3
You’ve now drawn the bag of popcorn, and for this step of our popcorn drawing guide, we will draw the show’s star: popcorn!
This is a complicated step on the surface, but it’s easier than you might think.
To design each popcorn kernel, you have to design small rounded shapes whose outlines are made up of many small wavy lines. First, add just one row of popcorn; we’ll build on that later.
Step 4
You’re now learning to draw popcorn kernels, so you shouldn’t have trouble adding more to your popcorn drawing in this step!
Just add another layer to create the popcorn look. You can add another layer or two for a fuller bag of popcorn!
Once you’ve drawn the next layer, you can complete some popcorn details by adding small lines on the popcorn kernels to make them look like popcorn! With these drawn, we can add some final details in the final steps.
Step 5
Before proceeding to the coloring phase, you must add some final details. In this step, we’ll decorate the popcorn bag itself!
We used a simple stripe pattern for our example, but this is a step where you can get creative and plan your popcorn bag look!
Popcorn bags often come with beautiful colors and creative artwork, so there’s plenty you could do to make them your own!
You could even draw something like a poster for one of your favorite movies on the popcorn bag to thoroughly capture the movie’s theme.
You can also design your own bright and intricate pattern or create a different movie theme by drawing film reels and spotlights on it.
Step 6
This brings us to the final step of this guide to designing popcorn! The drawing is now ready, and you can color your fantastic drawing in this step!
For our reference image, we used bright yellow for the popcorn kernels and blue and red for the popcorn bag motif.
We chose these colors for our image, but feel free to use any colors you like!
Sometimes the popcorn can be dipped in wild colors so that you can incorporate some bright colors into the popcorn.
When creating the popcorn box design, add another color to the design.
Once you know what colors you want, you can also have fun choosing the artistic mediums you’ll use to bring them to life.
For a design like this, I think some acrylic paint or colored pencils and markers would be great to give the image a vibrant look.
